The emphasis leading up to the Spiritual Renewal Conference was on the power of prayer. We saw God move in a significant way during the conference.

The emphasis on prayer was also capitalized on at Lighthouse Baptist Academy. Prayer has always been a driving force behind everything we do at Lighthouse Baptist Academy and Daycare. However, we know that just because leaders are driven to prayer doesn’t mean that translates to the student body.

Our Spiritual Renewal Conference was not just something our church experienced; it was something we wanted the students at Lighthouse Baptist Academy to be a part of as well. We do not habitually tell our guest speakers what to preach – we leave that up to the Lord. But when John O’Malley specifically asked if there was a topic that we would like him to focus on during the week, it was a no-brainer for us. We asked him to speak on prayer. That is where we left it.

Brother O’Malley did a fantastic job approaching this important subject. He started at square one and explained to the students how to pray using the model prayer as an example. It was apparent during the first chapel that this would be a hard road – praying was something these Christian school students needed to be used to doing for a prolonged period of time.

Momentum was gained during the second chapel service, and the students began praying. More momentum was gained this past Monday as the entire chapel hour was dedicated to prayer. These students spent the whole class period praying. No one got up, moved, or asked to go to the bathroom – everyone was praying.

After the chapel service, several high students expressed gratitude for the emphasis on prayer, especially the hour of prayer we had on Monday. Please pray that the Lord will continue to do great spiritual work in the lives of our young people.
